Time to “Spring Forward” on March 14, 2016
A quick reminder that it is time to change your clock on March 14, 2016 in Austin, Texas. We will “spring forward” to begin Daylight Saving Time again, which means you will change your clock forward one hour at 2:00 a.m. on March 14th when Daylight Saving Time officially begins. This transition is often difficult for people since you will lose an hour of sleep – good thing for parents and school age children this will happy during Spring Break!
Daylight Saving Time (the second word is singular contrary to popular belief it is not “Daylight Savings Time”) is a change in standard time for the purpose of making better use of daylight hours and conserving energy. When Daylight Saving Time (DST) starts in the spring clocks are set one hour ahead or “spring forward” from standard time. This means that sunrise and sunset will occur one hour later on the clock than the day before allowing people more daylight time to enjoy outdoor activities. When we return to Standard Time in the fall, clocks “fall back” one hour.
Merritt Law hopes you all put the extra daylight to good use this spring and summer!
